  Donna Eugenia Herdes, 81, of Clay City, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Flora Gardens. Ms. Herdes was born August 2, 1932, in Clay County, the daughter of Earl Monroe and Lelia May (Mitchel) Herdes. Donna enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was a lifelong member of Sailor Springs Christian Church. ?She is survived by sister, Dionne Creamer; sister, Darlene Williams; brother, David Herdes; nieces, Teresa (Mike) Yates, Regina (Paul) Schnepper, Kathy (Carl) Lauderback, Karita (Bradley) Stevens, and Lelia Herdes Newman; nephews, Raymond (Lori) Williams and Pvt. David E. Herdes Jr.; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Ms. Herdes was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Wayne Alan Williams, and a sister-in-law, Peggy Herdes. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10 at Sailor Springs Christian Church with Minister Tim Schnautz officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City. Memorials may be made to Clay County Hospice.
