- Enlisted and entered active service on January 10, 1941 at Effingham, Illinois. Completed boot camp at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois and attended the aviation radio school at Naval Air Station, San Diego, California. Thereafter asassigned to Naval Air Station, Kodiak, Alaska and served aboard the carrier USS Randolph (CV-15). Reassigned to Composite Squadron VC-15, Naval Air Station, Los Alamitos, California and served aboard the escort carrier USS Tulagi (CVE-72). Earneed The Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars, WWII Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Honorably discharged as an Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class on February 17, 1946 at the Personnel Separation Center, U.S. Navy Reserve, Bremerton, Washington.
