Linda D. Fry, 74, of Clay City, Illinois, formerly of Newton, Illinois passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Clay County Hospital.
Linda was born January 14, 1949 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Leon and June (Melton) Granby. She married James Fry on February 6, 1982 in Olney, Illinois. James preceded her in death on April 13, 2018.
Linda was a 1968 graduate from Newton. When she was younger, she worked at Brown's Shoe Factory in Olney. She later worked at Burgin Manor as an aide. She moved to Flora in the late 1970s with her husband, James, and worked at Flora Gardens while she lived there. She later retired from Pacific Cycle. She was a huge Cardinals fan and enjoyed cheering at their games. Her favorite pastimes were either word searches or watching the baseball game on television. Linda loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She also enjoyed camping with her husband while he was living. Linda was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church in Clay City. She was a loving mother to all of her kids, and she was a wonderful grandmother to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda will be missed dearly by all those that knew her.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Angela Ash and husband Dave of Plainfield, IN; step-son, James W. Fry and fiance Sherry York of Hatfield, AR; step-son, Donald E. Fry and friend Sheery Evilsizer of Flora, IL; step-daughter, Caralyn Riley and husband John of Clay City, IL; step-daughter, Sandy Rodgers of Johnston City, IL ; 3 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; brother, Ron Granby and wife Debbie; sisters, Yvonna Clark, Connie (Bill) Hartleroad, Debbie (Alden) Blake; Sherry Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Fry; brothers-in-law, Jeril Clark and Kenny Duncan.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Bethlehem Christian Church in Clay City, Illinois.
Interment will follow the service at Clay City Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Bethlehem Church in Clay City.
