- Betty Jean Kocher, 93, of Olney, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Carle RMH.
Betty was born August 5, 1930 in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Harold J. and Minnie (Painter) Davidson. She married Herman J. Kocher, Sr. on June 30, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown, and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2020.
Betty loved life and was an animal lover. She was a Mary Kay Consultant for many years. Betty also loved to bake, and she was notorious for her wonderful Rhubarb Crunch. She was also a great seamstress, and she made her own patterns. Betty went on church retreats for King's House in Belleville for over 40 years.
Betty was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.
Betty is survived by her sons, Herman Kocher, Jr., Steve (Linda) Kocher, Dr. Jeff Kocher, Ron (Sandy) Kocher, and David Kocher; daughter, Janet Kocher; sister Pauline Phillips; brother, Jerry (Shirleen) Davidson; brother, Jim (Connie) Davidson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Kocher; twin sister, Frances Dean Dehner; brother, Maynard Davidson; grandson, Shane Kocher; brother-in-law, Michael Phillips.
A visitation will be held for friends and family on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Betty at a later date.
Memorials can be made to Claws and Paws or the American Heart Association or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.
