- Flora, Ill. Lois Koehler, 78, of Flora, passed away in her home on Thursday, February 17, 2011, after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. (Lois Headlee Patridge Sharp Koehler)
Lois was born November 27, 1932, in Fairfield, Ill. She was the daughter of Cecil and Naomi (Chaney) Headlee. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Mayberry and Mildred Devore, and two brothers, Bill Headlee and Wayne Headlee.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Bunnage of Albion, Ill. and her "sister," Judy Keen, of South Beloit, Ill.
Lois married Oran (Boone) Patridge in 1950. They had four children who survive them: Cheryl (Earl) Phillips of Clay City, Ill., Larry (Mary Jo) Patridge of Clay City, Ill., Brenda (John) Bush of Woodway, Wash., and Russell (Valena) Patridge, of Newton, Ill. The family was grief-stricken when Boone was suddenly killed in a plane crash on June 3, 1960.
In 1966, Lois married Jack Sharp, of Clay City, blending her family of four children with his three children, Mary Lou (Barny) Gugle, of Henning, Minn., Dick (Connie) Sharp, of Louisville, Ill., and Doris Ann (Louie) Lusk, of Flora, Ill. Jack preceded Lois in death in June 2002.
Lois was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Her husband, Robert Koehler, of Flora, Ill., survives her.
She was a member of Clay City United Methodist Church, the Venus Rebekah Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary #840.
She loved dancing, quilting, playing cards, and cooking for her family and friends. Anyone who knew Lois was at some point touched by her generosity of spirit. Her passing leaves a void in all our lives.
Cremation rites were accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, at Clay City United Methodist Church in Clay City with Pastor Mark Canada officiating.
Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clay City United Methodist Church.
