  She quit school at 15 due to poor health of her father. She joined her sister, Mildred, at the International Shoe Company to help the family. She and her husband worked at the shoe factory until 1942 when they moved to Chicago, where she was an operator for Bell Telephone. She and her husband, Lowell, retired in 1968, returned to Olney and spent 14 years in Florida in the winter months. She was a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney. Mabel lived eight years at Brookstone Estates in Olney and three years at Richland Memorial Hospital's Long Term Care.
