Honorable discharge as a Corporal on 8 December 1945.

Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

Notes - William R. "Boone" Hiser, 81, of Olney, IL, formerly of Clay City, died November 4, 2004 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Mr. Hiser was born July 16, 1923 in Clay County, the son of William and Lila Hunley Hiser. he married Lois Praxel September 14, 1945.
He worked for the Ill. Dept. of Corrections and formerly the Clay County Sheriff's Dept., and was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 3rd Infantry.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Welty and Karyl Eikleberry; one sister, Patsy Cordell; two grandchildren; and step-grandchildren and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother and a sister.
Private family graveside services were held at the Clay City Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Olney Veterans Organizations.
Summers-Kistler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
