    • Entered active service as an Apprentice Seaman on December 10, 1945. Completed boot camp at Naval Training Station, San Diego, California. Served aboard, in turn, the USS Abercrombie DE-343, and USS Richard W. Suesens DE-342. Honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on August 16, 1946 at the Naval Personnel Separation Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Earned the WWII Victory Medal.
