- Entered active service on March 15, 1944. Completed boot camp at Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Illinois. Served aboard or at, in turn, the Landing Ship, Tank USS LST 704, and Naval Training Station, Camp Bradford, Virginia. Honorably discharged as a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class on May 13, 1946 at the Naval Personnel Separation Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Earned the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and the Philippines Liberation Medal with 2 bronze battle stars.
