- He served with the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Bob worked 31 years at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1996 as a line operator at the Morton Parts Distribution Center in Morton. He then worked in the visitors center as a tour guide at the Morton Parts plant and later as a greeter at Lighthouse Automotive in Morton.
He was a member of Grace Church in Morton, where he served as head usher for 17 years.
Bob enjoyed working on small engines, specializing in lawn mower repair. He also enjoyed gardening and following the St. Louis Cardinals.
