Departed the Continental U.S. on March 7, 1945 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and fought with Battery C, 487th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion in the Central Europe Campaign. Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on November 7, 1945 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star, and the WWII Victory Medal.   Services for Elmo (Jim) Stine, 70, Clay City, were at the Cardascio Funeral Home, Clay City. Burial with full military rites was at Clay City Cemetery. Bro. Fred Gordon officiated. He died at 10:55 p.m. Friday at his home. Mr. Stine was born June 17, 1906 in Wayne County. He was a member of the Flora VFW and a veteran of World War II.
