- Enlisted and entered active service on February 14, 1945 at Saint Louis, Missouri. Trained as a Basic Airman (military occupational specialty 521) and as an AP Mechanic at Amarillo Field, Texas. Served stateside until honorably discharged as a Private from the 3701st Army Air Forces Base Unit on November 10, 1945 at Sioux City, Iowa. Earned the American Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
