  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; Olney Lodge 926 V.P.O.E.; director of Richland County Country Club; board member of Richland Country Club; past supervisor of Clay County and served as board chairman. He was also past exalted ruler of the Flora Elks; a veteran of World War II and member of Olney American Legion. He was manager of Country Companies Insurance in Olney from 1962--1965; a member of Clay City Masonic Lodge; and operated the Pure Oil service station in Clay City from 1955--1962.
