- Hazel C. Franklin Hills, 89, of Clay City, formerly of Sailor Springs, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Flora Healthcare Center in Flora.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Darrel Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Dillman Cemetery in Sailor Springs.
Mrs. Hills was born August 9, 1942, in Sailor Springs, the daughter of Baldy and Josephine (Noll) Franklin. She married Douglas B. Hills on June 21, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by her close friend and companion, Lloyd C. "Smitty" Smith.
She had worked as a key-punch operator at Roadmaster. She was a member of Clay City Christian Church and Sailor Springs American Legion Auxilliary.
Mrs. Hills is survived by a daughter, Bea Jay Laughton, of Clay City; son-in-law, Wayne Harris, of Sailor Springs; brother, Malbert Franklin, of Flora; brother, Nolan Franklin, of Flora; sister, Norma Abbott, of Sailor Springs; and four grandchildren, Shana Puckett and her husband, Terry, Shaun Harris and his wife, Ray Lynn, Aaron Matthew Laughton, and Alan Michael Laughton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Bonnie Harris; three brothers, Orris C. Franklin, Bill Franklin and Roy Franklin; and two sisters, Bernice Bridges and Alberta Anderson.
