- Carolyn D. Pierce, 83, Clay City, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark, Missouri.
She was born March 22, 1929 in Savannah, Georgia, the daughter of the late Stephen M. and Hazel G. (Brewer) Tillman.
She was united in marriage in 1954 to Raymond N. Pierce. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Carolyn was a member of the Belleview Methodist Church.
She worked in clerical and secretarial positions for a bank and hospital and later for an insurance office and sawmill and desk clerk for a local motel.
She was known affectionately as Maude" to oilfield workers in the 1970's and 80's for relaying information via CB radio before the cell phone era.
She did enroll and complete Auctioneer school in Iowa.
She enjoyed music, going to local dances, watching television and western movies and extending birthday wishes to family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Clay Pierce and his wife Rene, Ozark, MO; a daughter, Carol Jan Fildes, Port Richey, FL; a brother, Thomas Tillman, Charlotte, NC; a sister, Mary Jane Balford, Eva, AL; a granddaughter, Nicole Pierce, Monett, MO; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
