  NOTES FROM STEPHEN GREGORY "STEVE" LUKE (1947-2002): Too young to serve in the Civil war, he joined the horse guards as a lieutenant in 1660. In 1665 he was asked to be a second in a duel of pistols between the Duke of Buckingham and the Earl of Shrewsbury. Neither was hurt as the bullets hit Gwilym, killing him.
