Notes - Monte served in the United States Navy. He worked in the oil fields for many years. Later in life Monte was a self-employed carpenter. In his spare time he was a licensed commercial fisherman. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, but his true passion was hoop net fishing in the Little Wabash River. Monte took great care in hand-making all of his own nets and was one of the few people around with this skill.
