  Roy Harold DODSON was born 24 Feb 1919 in Clay City, Clay County, Illinois, USA. He was the son of Luther Melton Dodson and his wife, Versa Elizabeth Nelson. Roy was Luther and Versie's second child; however, their firstborn daughter, Alberta May, had died as a 3-month-old infant nearly a year before Roy was born. Roy appeared on the 1920 census in Clay City with his parents on the 13th of January. It was just the three of them living in their rented home; younger sister Dorothy would not be born till later that year. A younger brother was born in 1922, but Roy may never have gotten to meet him since he died himself in 1922. Roy was just 3 years, 2 months, and 6 days old when he died in Hoosier Township, Clay County, Illinois on 30 April 1922. He was buried in Clay City Cemetery on the first of May, 1922.
