Notes - Ray B. Broadwater, 88, of Clay City, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Ray was born November 9, 1927, the son of Russell L. Broadwater and Nettie Mae (Hawkinberry) Broadwater in Marion County, West Virginia, which was near Mannington, West Virginia. The family also lived in St. Louis, MO and Oklahoma for almost 8 years before moving to St. Elmo, IL in 1939.
Ray served in the U.S. Army Infantry - 2nd division. He married Helen Joy Lilly on October 25, 1946 and they had one daughter, Karen Lee. He later married Audrey Johnson Cook on August 2, 1968. She preceded him in death in 1978. On June 3, 1979, he married Mary Lou Robb. She survives.
Ray was a member of Clay City Christian Church and the American Legion in Flora, IL. He retired from Southwire Company in 1990.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Lee Lunte of Nashville, IL; Stepdaughters, Diane (Gerald) Vaughn of Flora, IL, Gail (Paul) Beauchamp of Encinitas, CA, Ann Robb (Joe) Varner of Jasper, IN, and Susan Robb of Houston, TX; Stepsons, Dan Robb of Austin, TX and Steve Robb of Kingswood, TX; Stepmother, Katherine Maggard of Nashville, IL;His Half-Brother, Russell Lloyd Broadwater; Two Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren Seven Step-Grandchildren and Five Step-Great Grandchildren; and several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Carl, and Frank Broadwater.
