"WILLIAM AUSBROOK, RESIDENT HERE FOR FIFTY YEARS, DIES
EAST MOLINE -- William G. Ausbrook, 78, a resident of East Moline for the last 50 years and a former supervisor at the East Moline State hospital, died at 3:45 yesterday afternoon in his home, 1425 Fifth avenue, East Moline. He had been ill about five weeks.
Mr. Ausbrook was born July 13, 1870, in Clay City, Ill. On Jan. 25, 1893 he married Ada Rose in Clay City where they made their home until 1898. In that year they moved to East Moline. Mr. Ausbrook became a supervisor at the East Moline State hospital when it was established and helped to receive the first patients at the institution which was then known as Watertown State hospital. He had been retired for several years.
Mr. and Mrs Ausbrook lived in East Moline until 1921 at which time they moved to Moline, remaining there until their return to East Moline in 1941. Mrs. Ausbrook died in 1945.
The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1943 and both were charter members of Grace Methodist church, East Moline. Mr. Ausbrook was a trustee of the church for many years, having retired from that post last year. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lela Mercer of East Moline and Mrs. Helen Soderquist of Akron, O.; two brothers, Clyde of Noble, Illinois and Edward of Rock Island; 11 grandchildren and six great-grand children
