  Helen L. Laughton 80, of Clay City, died July 22, 2004 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Mrs. Laughton was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Richland County, the daughter of Walker and Lyda Crackel Harris. She married Arthur L. Laughton May 3, 1946 in Morganfield, KY. She was a retired bookkeeper for the U. S. Government and a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and Unit 4 Garden Club. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Shirley J. Boot and Sharon A. Phillips; a son, Jeffrey Laughton; a brother Russell Harris; a sister, Maytle Marie Harris; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Preceding her in death were her parents and a son, Don Laughton. Funeral services were held at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with burial in Smith Cemetery near Sailor Springs. Memorials to Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora.
