Notes |
- ..He attended Four Corners School, walking every day to school through the deep snow in winter. As a youngman he worked at Eastland, Ut. cutting posts, sometimes 100 a day, building fence and helping farm. later he worked around the Yellow Jacket area in the fall loading sacked beans from the thresher and hauling them to the warehouse where the sacks were opened the beans recleaned and resacked. He also worked in the warehouse at Yellow Jacket.
..He married Lois Irene Colwell on February 15, 1946, and started dryland farming. Raising beans and wheat for many years before going into growing alfalfa hay. Dale loved to grow pinto beans and was very successful at it. He worked with his hands and was a good mechanic doing most of his own repair work. In between his farming duties he worked on diesel pumps for the local International Harvester dealer, covering the territory from Durango to Monticello.
..With the help of his brothers, Dale built his own home. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile and tease people. He always had a practical joke to play on some unsuspecting victim. He could always tell a hunting or fishing story and was always looking forward to the next hunting season. Dale loved little children and they loved him.
..Dale served on the television board of directors, the telephone company board of directors, and the fire department board of directors.
..After retirement, Dale and Lois had a cabin built at Groundhog and loved the many hours spent there with snowmobiling friends and others.
..Dale was a very respected man in his farming community and his special ways will be missed by all.
