Carl Eugene Tolliver, 74, of Claremont, died at 6:25 p.m, Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at his home with family present.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stasi-Grove Funeral Home in Olney with military rites performed by the VFW of Olney. Pastor Ted Kemp will officiate. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Hospice of Southeastern Illinois or Home Care.
Tolliver was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Louisville, the son of William R. and Mayme (Baird) Tolliver. He married Ruth E. Olsen Feb. 17, 1946, in Hollywood, Calif.
He was a WWII Navy veteran from 1942-1945 and was a retired oil field supervisor for Acme Tool Co. in Borger, Texas. He was a member of VFW Post #4226 in Olney, Military Order of the Cooties 32 of Mt. Carmel, and the First Baptist Church of Olney.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Ron Tolliver and his wife, Betty, of Bonifay, Fla., Gary Tolliver and his wife, Elaine, of Albany, Ga., Bill Tolliver and his wife, Diana, of Monahans, Texas, Wesley Butch Tolliver and his wife, Lynn, of Olney, and Steve Tolliver and his wife, Molly, of Olney; one daughter, Charlene Tolliver Rowe, of Claremont; one brother, Ralph Tolliver, of Salem; three sisters, Eva Hickey, of Flora, Florence Hemphill, of Flora, and Mary Riley, of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents, Floyd and Cappa Price, of Newton, a daughter, Debra, three brothers and a sister.
