    • Andrew Jackson Sager, an honored and respected citizen of Claremont Township, Richland County, departed this life Sunday morning, January 6, 1907.

He had been ailing for over a year, but not until recently did his case become serious and alarm his family. He contracted a very heavy cold which settled on his lungs, bringing on the dreaded disease pneumonia. He was only confined to his bed four days.

Mr. Sager was born in Sandusky County, Ohio, July 5, 1845. He migrated to this state with his parents in 1853, when a mere lad, eight years old, settling on a farm a half mile north of his late residence.

He was an active member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran church, where he from time to time served in different capacities as an officer in the church. He assisted in building two churches, the last one a fine up to date structure which was dedicated a few years ago.

He was a life long Democrat and was always willing to give what he could to his party.

On the 10th day of March, 1870, he was married to Miss Salinda Guinther, which union was blessed with eight children, of which the following survive: Nora Sager, Chas. D. Sager, Alice Sager and Florence Sager, all living in this county.

The following brothers and sisters survive: Mary Hetrick, Lindsey, O., William Sager, Noble, Ill., George Sager, Olney, Ill., Joseph Sager, Clay City, Ill., Julia Conour, Olney, Ill., Sarah Harrell, Olney, Ill., Eli Sager, Claremont, Ill., Peter Sager, Danville, Ill., Ellen Brown, Noble, Ill.

His funeral was conducted from his late residence near Claremont, Ill., Tuesday, January 8th, by Rev. Elmer D. S. Boyer, of Lafyette, Ind.

A large concourse of people assembled to pay their last respects to their neighbor and friend. His remains were interred in the Goss Cemetery.

He realized his end was drawing near, and the day before he died he offered up a prayer for his family, stating that there was nothing in the world for him, and he was willing to go. He brought his age to 61 years, 6 months, and 1 day.
