Kennedy, Charlene - Charlene Kennedy, 83, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Gordon Oliver officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Cards of sympathy and memorials may be sent to 1311 230th St., Batavia 52533.
Mrs. Kennedy was born Dec. 17, 1925, in East St. Louis, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Loretta Frances Meteer Burton. She married Robert Dean Kennedy Feb. 17, 1945, in East St. Louis. He died March 10, 1985, in Hartsville, Tenn.
Mrs. Kennedy had been a resident of Fairfield since 1966. She was a certified nursing assistant at Jefferson County Hospital for 10 years and receptionist for the Department of Human Services for eight years.
She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family.
Survivors include five children, Stephen Kennedy and wife Becky of Newcastle, Okla., Kenneth Kennedy and wife Mary of Champaign, Ill., Cheryl Manning and husband Bucky of Batavia, Donna Moore and husband Tim Downing of Fairfield and Sandra Daniels and husband Ken Scott of Cape Coral, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis Kennedy; and one grandson.
