- Lawrence E. Zwilling, 84, of Olney, formerly of Stringtown, passed away November 19, 2021 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
Lawrence was born on November 13, 1937 in Stringtown, IL, the son of John and Bertha (Weiler) Zwilling. He married Magdalene (Kocher) on November 24, 1966 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown, and she preceded him in death on September 3, 2020.
Lawrence was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown. For many years he farmed and was an avid hunter and trapper. When he wasn't actually hunting or trapping, he enjoyed reading and talking about these topics with friends. He and his son spent many hours on the farm together until Greg's death at a young age. Lawrence loved the outdoors. In addition to his hunting and trapping activities, he also enjoyed mowing, gardening, and walking. He looked forward to visits with family and friends and was a very good neighbor. He and his wife, Magdalene, enjoyed listening to country music, and they often went dancing with friends over the years.
Lawrence is survived by his sisters-in-law, Jean Zwilling of Olney and Anna Marie Debolt of Tolono and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Greg Zwilling; and brothers Gerald, Richard, Louis, Carl, Victor, and Norman Zwilling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lawrence at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown, with a visitation will beginning one hour before service time at the church.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Stringtown.
Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown or for masses.
