  	Dr. H. J. Weyl, one of the best known medical practioneers in Macon county died at 8 o'clock Thursday morning at the family residence, 410 East William street. His death was due to prostatic hemorhage. He had been in failing health for a year or two, but was able to be about until a week or two ago. He was taken seriously ill a week ago last Saturday night.

  BORN IN GERMANY. Dr. Henry J. Weyl was born March 5, 1835, in Germany. He came to America with his father. In 1845, when he was ten years old and they settled at Albion, Ill., where he spent his boyhood. He attended college in Cincinnati and was a graduate of the Eclectic Medical college of that city. When the Civil war broke out he enlisted and served during the war as quartermaster of his regiment. He recently joined Dunham post, 141, G. A. R. He had been voted into membership, but had not been initiated. Dr. Weyl came to Decatur thirty-five years ago and soon built up a large practice. He had a wide reputation as a physician and surgeon. He engaged in active practice here for twenty years, retiring about fifteen years ago. BELIEVED IN DECATUR Dr. Weyl always was confident of the growth and prosperity of Decatur and he invested his money in Decatur real estate. At the time of his death he owned considerable property here, including a business house on South Park street, the home place at the corner of Jackson and William streets, the flat building which he built on North Jackson street and the flat building he later built on East William street, in which he died. He also owned residence properly on East Condit street and West Wood street, besides other properties. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. He was a congenial, companionable man and had a host of friends.
