- PFC. HAROLD MULVANEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mulvaney, Iuka, who was killed in action against the Japanese on Luzon Island, January 28. Entering the service in September, 1943, Pfc. Mulvaney was assigned to the 40th Armored Infantry, received his training at Camp Wolters, Texas, and was sent overseas in March, 1944. Before the invasion of Luzon he was stationed at New Caledonia. Before entering the service he was employed by the Texas Company, East Main Kroger store, and the Boston store in Salem. He was graduated from Salem community high school in 1938. In addition to his parents he leaves a widow, the former Miss Florence Bartley, and a sister, Mrs. Harold Henne, whose husband is stationed with the U.S. Navy in the Marshall Islands.
