- Ray Montgomery, 16, of Bement was instantly killed last Saturday night, Sep --, 1921 when he was struck by an Interurban car at Clark Siding four miles south of Monticello. He had been working for James Palmer, a farmer who lives near the scene of the accident. He was waiting to board the car to go to his home in Bement to spend Sunday. He is supposed to have fallen asleep while waiting for the car. The body was badly mangled. The crew of the car took the remains on to Bement. Inquest was held on Sunday by F. D. Duvall, in the absence of Coroner Porter; jury returned what is known as an "open verdict" fixing no responsibility for the accident.
