  • Notes
    • Miss Nellie Harmon, 77, lifelong resident of Richland County, retired school teacher and one of Olney's grandest persons, died at her home, 903 East Cherry Street, last night following a lengthy illness. She was most highly
respected by many citizens of this area, and admired by her colleagues in the teaching profession.

Nellie born near Claremont on April 10, 1893 daughter of Alexander and Ivy Alice Gardner, and lived in this county her entire life. She was very active and faithful as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Olney, and was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. Miss Harmon began her teaching career by teaching in two rural schools in this county, and then started teaching in the Olney Schools in 1916. She remained in the Olney school
system until she retired in 1952. She attended the Olney schools, and the Teacher's College in Carbondale.
