- Fritz was born on November 4, 1921, in Clay County, the son of Frank and Carrie (Schnautz) Thomann. He was the 6th of 7 children and was born in his parents home. He built another home for his parents and remained on the homestead as a dairy and grain farmer 7 miles northwest of Noble until he was 93.
He married Irene Burgener on December 1, 1946 at Saron Reform Church in Richland County. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2009 after they were married for over 60 years and had 7 children. At the age of 91, Fritz married Doris Hasler Everette. She preceded him in death 4 years later as they resided at Brookstone Estates.
Fritz and Irene and their 7 children as well as Doris and her 4 children all attended Glenwood Church in Noble. He was a member of Lincoln Landers Motorhome Association for many years. Fritz enjoyed playing cards, going bowling and spending time visiting with people. He never knew a stranger.
