- Dorothy R. Kuhl, 91, of Olney, formerly of rural Newton, died on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Lavender Ridge Dignified Memory Care in Olney, Illinois.
Dorothy was born on August 22, 1930 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Buerster) Nix. She married Ernest Henry Kuhl on August 17, 1949 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, and he precedes her in death.
Dorothy was a homemaker and farm wife. She loved working on the farm, gardening, sewing, quilting and crocheting. She especially loved spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. After retirement, her and Ernie loved to travel and spend their winter in Florida.
Dorothy and her late husband raised 5 children on their farm 3 miles north of Wakefield. She is survived by her five children: Fred (Cheryl Ann) Kuhl of rural Newton; Rose Stark of Wakefield, Raymond (Cheryl Raye) of rural Newton. Jane (Duane) Kocher of Olney, Mike (Lori) Kuhl of Bridgeport; 12 grandchildren, Chad (Melissa) Stark, Josh (Chelsea) Stark, Jason (Marie) Kuhl, Beverly (Dave) Gabrel, Chris Kuhl, Ryan (Erin) Kocher, Kylie Iffert, Rodney (Alison) Kuhl, Jeremy Kuhl, Britney (Jason) Allen, Jenni (Matt) Maxon, Roger (Kim) Kuhl; 13 great grandchildren, Abriana and Makana Gabrel, River and Gus Stark, Grace Kuhl, Ian and Logan Kocher, Libby and Tucker Allen, Kaden and Rylan Kuhl, Emmett and Aurora Kuhl; step-great grandchildren, Erica Hassler, Grace and Kate Ochs.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie Kuhl; son-in-law, David Stark; brothers, Maurice, Carl, Leo, John, Gerald, and Gene Nix; sisters, Delores Keller, Marie Kapper, Pauline Rohr, Josephine Kapper, and Ethan Nix; brother-in-law, John Kuhl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the church.
Interment will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin.
