- LOUISVILLE Lillian Verdene Mills, 86, of Louisville passed away at 8:20 AM, Saturday, April 17, 2021 at her home in rural Louisville.
Lillian was born on August 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Drue and Dorothy (Goodman) Bible. Lillian graduated from the North Clay High School, in Louisville the Class of 1950. She married Bobbie Mills on August 8, 1952, at the Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville, and they shared 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 20, 2015.
Lillian and sister in -law Phyllis worked together in many jobs, cooked meals for the Rotary Club, cleaned Wabash Telephone and Clay County State Bank, and cooked in the kitchens of North Clay Elementary and High schools, Methodist camp in Louisville, and Oil Belt Christian Camp for Red Brush Christian Church. She was known as a hard-working woman who enjoyed pulling weeds in the garden and burning leaves and sticks even in her older years. Many people have enjoyed her homemade cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls and noodles. Her parents owned and operated the Wabash Skating Rink in Louisville. Many folks in Clay County remember good times skating on Friday and Saturday nights.
Lillian is survived by her children; Tim (Susan) Mills, of Louisville, Debra Garrett, of Louisville, Lori Lamar, of Sweeden, Kentucky, daughters in law; Ann Mills, of Evansville, Indiana, Rhonda Mills, of Louisville, loved by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 1 brother; Cleo (June) Bible, of Louisville, four sister in laws; Phyllis Bible, of Louisville, and Norma Mills, of Flora, Lois Mills, of Sterling, Illinois, Rose Mills, of Rock Falls, Illinois. brother in law; Ronnie (Roberta) Mills, of Fairfield, Illinois.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her parents, youngest son; Tracy Mills, middle son; Danny Mills, grandson; Devin Mills, great granddaughter; Ainsley Beck, son in law; Doug Lamar, 2 sisters; Sylvia DeVore, and Doris Stortzum, 1 brother; Jeff Bible.
