- Don L. Volk, 81, of Ingraham, IL died at 8:15 PM Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
He was born October 19, 1929 in Clay County, IL to Anton & Catherine (Kuenstler) Volk. He married Arlene Kocher on April 5, 1956 at Stringtown, IL.
He was a retired farmer, a U.S. Army Korean veteran, and his memberships include Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Knights of Columbus in Newton, and the St. Marie American Legion Post.
Don enjoyed the simple things in life, being outside, his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Arlene Volk of Ingraham; children: Ervan Volk & wife Cindy of Newton, Christine Adams & husband Jim of Effingham, Walter Volk & wife Bonne of Ingraham, Sheila Moore & husband Kevin of Chatham; 2 sisters: Sister Antoinette Volk of Donaldson, IN, Ethel Zwilling & husband Herman of Claremont; 8 grandchildren: Justin, Kurt & Kelly Volk / Kimberly & Bradly Adams / Landon, Lauren & Lance Volk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter (Janet), 3 brothers (Virgil, Anton & Louis Volk), and 1 sister (Sister Loretta Volk).
A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Wednesday (February 9, 2011) at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Wendelin, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, is in charge of arrangements.
