- Entered active service as a draftee on 11 June 1943 at Fort Custer, Michigan. Completed basic training and qualified as an Orderly, Military Occupational Specialty 590. Departed the Continental U.S. on 15 March 1944 bound for the Pacific Theater of Operations. Served with the 716th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Searchlight Battery. Earned The American Campaign Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal And The WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Private on 17 February 1945 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
