On Veterans' Day, 2005, the city of Flora, Illinois dedicated a memorial to all known Clay County, Illinois World War II Veterans.
Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

Notes - Loren DeLaney, 77, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Loren was born May 19, 1925, in Flora, Ill., to Ernest H. and Jesse Hockman DeLaney. He and Jeannine Hout were married on Dec. 27, 1950, in Flora, Ill.
He moved with his wife and two daughters to Wichita Falls in 1960, where he owned and operated several restaurants including The Big D Drive-In. He later came out of retirement to work at Hamilton Bryan for a number of years.
He was a 1943 graduate of Flora High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Robinson and during the Korean War on the USS Daniel A. Joy. He was a member of Faith Masonic Lodge #1158 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite, and formerly, the Maskat Shrine Foot Patrol.
He was a member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church and the Anniversary Sunday School Class.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Floral Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls with the Reverends Dennis Wilkinson and Mary Cantrell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeannine of Wichita Falls; daughters, Debbie Cunningham and husband Jim of Wichita Falls, and Diane Doughty and husband Jim of Tulsa, Okla.; brothers Robert DeLaney of Flora, Ill., and Charles DeLaney of San Antonio; sisters, Evelyn Clifton of Louisville, Ill., and Fern Thompson of Owensboro, Ky.; grandchildren, Caitlin and Joel Cunningham of Wichita Falls, and Adrienne and Steven Doughty of Tulsa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Floral Heights UMC Building Fund or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
