    • Served August 1944 to December 1944. Made 3 voyages in the Pacific Theater of Operations as a Junior Assistant Purser, Pharmacist aboard the SS Castle Pinckney, a T2-SE-A1 class tanker. Received the Merchant Marine Combat Bar with stars. By congressional action in 1988, granted veteran status and an honorable discharge from the Coast Guard as a Seaman effective on August 15, 1945.
