- Julianna Uphoff Mason, age 99, of Flora, IL died Saturday, June 11, 2011.
She was born December 28, 1911, in Cisne, the daughter of Warren and Edna (Cisne) Crippin.
Having graduated from Flora High School in 1928, she graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1932. She later earned a Master of Arts Degree from Indiana University in 1958.
She married but later divorced Chauncey Uphoff. She married Roy Mason on February 14, 1987. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2003.
Mrs. Mason was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and teacher of the Ever Ready Sunday School class. Also a long time member of the Flora Library Board of Directors, her memberships included Flora Garden Club 13, Beta Sigma Phi, the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary, and the National Retired Teachers Association. Active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Vinsans Trace Chapter, her other ancestral affiliations included the Mayflower Society, the Huguenot Society and the descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge.
She is survived by a sister, Alice M. Taylor of Palm desert, CA.; four grandchildren, Vandy Uphoff of Newbury Park, CA.; Karinda Uphoff of Boulder, CO.; Ryan Uuphoff and Christina Uphoff of Longmont, CO.; daughter-in-law, Linda Uphoff of Longmont, CO.; five step children, Michael Mason of Kansas City, MO.; Patsy Harris of Jackson, MI.; Thomas Mason of Choctaw, OK.; David Mason of Denver, CO.; and Kathryn Begando of Springfield, IL.; seven step-grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Chauncey Uphoff, and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Cisne Cemetery immediately following services.
