- Mildred Hamilton, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 6, 2016.
Mildred was born in Clay City, Illinois, on September 28, 1928, the daughter of Frank A. Neff Jr. and Minnie (Bates) Neff. She attended a small one room school house until high school where she graduated from Clay City High School with a Home Economics Award in 1946.
She married Earl Hambone Hamilton on October 18, 1947, and they had five children who were raised on a small farm north of Flora.
Mildred loved her family so much that she would tell everyone how many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that she had. Cooking for them and having them all around her made her the happiest.
She was baptized into Christ in 1943 and was a life-long member of Bethlehem Christian Church. With her passion of cooking and entertaining she would have the preachers and their families over for Sunday dinner.
She is survived by children: Mike Hamilton, Ava Siterlet, Trudy (David) Koontz, Greg (Deanna) Hamilton, and Kim (Shari) Hamilton; one sister: Leone (the late Charles W.) Cox; along with 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Frank and Minnie Neff, and sisters: Hazel Neff and Velma (Dale) Frost.
A funeral service for Mildred Hamilton will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Mark Luzadder officiating. Burial will be in Kneff Cemetery, Flora.
Memorial donations in Mildreds memory may be given to Bethlehem Christian Church or Oil Belt Christian Service Camp.
