- Shelley Kay (McLean) Callahan, age 65 of Clay City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She was surrounded by her husband, children, and two sisters.
Shelley was born on September 19, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas and was the daughter of Harold and Lucille (Spalsbury) McLean. She married Steven Lynn Callahan on December 4, 1976 at the Lutheran Church in Manhattan, Kansas and together they have five children.
Shelley loved being a Girl Scout leader for over 30 years. She was her daughters and granddaughters leader along with several other girls. Shelley was passionate about helping others and giving back to her community. Sewing was one of her favorite pastimes and she loved to make quilts. One of her proudest accomplishments was receiving her degree from Olney Central College.
Shelley is survived by her Best Friend and Ever Faithful and Loving Husband of 46 years, Steve Callahan of Clay City; her 5 children: Chip Lynch (Trea) and his children Ben, Ryan Alexis, Andrew, Brian, Destiny, and Brad; Ellen Millman and Kaia Mae Craig; Michelle Aumiller and her children Joseph and Natalin and their dad Eric Aumiller; Melissa Callahan and her children KLynne (Josh), Holden, and Galvin; Jessica Callahan (John) and her children Jordan, Joselyn, Jordan Thomas, and Kaleb Douglas; Hopper Callahan (Kassie) and their child Kyia. Shelley also had 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Sue (Ed), Dusty (Mike), Patty, and a brother, Jimmy Hodges (Jean); In-laws, David Callahan, Joy McKnelly, Janice (Mike) Rennier, Michael Callahan, and Sarah (Darren) Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lucille McLean; brothers and sisters, Steve Hodges, Chuck McLean, Nancy Oakes; Nephew, Frank Hoekstra; her father and mother in law, James and Doris Callahan; grandson Noah Douglas; brother in laws, Jack Hoekstra and Tim Callahan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Kistler Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City, Illinois, with burial following at Clay City Cemetery. Everyone that knew Shelley is invited to join the Callahan family for the Celebration of Life.
