- James Edward Hart Sr., 58, of Olney passed away at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with Jeff Long officiating. Burial will be in Honey Cemetery, Bogota, with full military rites by Ste. Marie Post 932 American Legion. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of James Edward Hart Sr.
James was born June 16, 1952, in Peoria, the son of James Amos and Deloris (Asher) Hart. He married Vicky Verdeyen on Feb. 20, 1971, and she survives.
James served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971 until 1974. James was a business agent for International Laborers of North America Local 771. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
James also is survived by his mother, Deloris Hart of Indianapolis; four children, James Edward (wife Amy) Hart Jr. of Newton and Todd Hart of Bone Gap and Jamie Hart of Donaldson and Jenny Hart of Litchfield, both daughters of Kathy Hart; four brothers, Randy (Lydia) Hart of Volcano's National Park, Hawaii, Phil Hart of Fort Myers, Fla., Will (Lucinda) Hart of Austin, Texas, and John (Janet) Hart of Indianapolis; one sister, Deloris (husband Lafe) Taylor of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his father, James A. Hart, and a brother, Gilbert Hart.
