  East Prairie - Alva Denton, 86 years old, of East Prairie, died Friday at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born Sept. 28, 1905, in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Joel Isaac and Rosa Fender Denton. He lived most of his life in Mississippi County, where he was a retired bus driver. He was a member of the First Church of God here. On Dec. 8, 1923, he married Evelyn Rodgers. She died Dec. 25, 1979. On Mar. 7, 1983, he married Audie Chessor. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Rodger Denton; one stepson, Stanley Chessor; one daughter, Ilene Denton Bell; one sister, Nina Hunter; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held today at the First Church of God. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston. Southeast Missourian
