    • Richard W. "Dick" Stanford, age 76, of Flora, IL passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Flora Rehab & Healthcare Center in Flora.

      Dick was born April 16, 1937 in Flora, IL to Harry and Mildred (McGrew) Stanford. He married Kathryn E. "Katie" Stanford on April 23, 1955 in Flora. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2002.

      Dick built homes with his brother and later worked in bridge construction throughout the U.S. He was a member of Carpenter's Local #634. Through Mark Shell and Orchardville Church, Dick's faith was strengthened and renewed. Dick was a wonderful man who loved to fish, hunt, and train dogs and enjoyed working in his garden and yard.

      He is survived by his soul mate, Ruthee Myers of Flora, who spent ten happy years together; two sons: Rick Stanford of Flora and Randy Stanford (Regina) of Ellettsville, IN; daughter: Chris Pierson (Raymond) of Flora; two brothers: Bill Stanford (Jane) of Flora and Jerry Stanford (Evelyn) of Shannon, MS; sister: Sue Pettit; three grandchildren: Michael (Kelly) Burdine, Hannah Fox, and Nicole Stanford; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

      The funeral service for Dick Stanford will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora.

      Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

      Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
