  Carolyn Sue Abner, age 69, of Flora, IL passed away at her home on Thursday, November 7, 2013. Carolyn was born February 19, 1944 in Clay County, IL to Harold and Emily (Phillips) Erwin. She married Tom Abner on June 25, 1965 at First Christian Church in Flora. Carolyn's life centered around family and had a joy-filled spirit when she was with her family and friends. Carolyn liked arts and crafts, loved pets, and enjoyed nature and being outdoors doing things like mushroom hunting. She was a member of First Christian Church of Flora. Carolyn is survived by her husband Tom Abner of Flora; three children: Randy Abner (Erica) of Flora, Michelle Pietz (Kenny) of Taylorsville, KY, Jason Abner (Patti) of Los Angeles, CA; and eight grandchildren: Jordan (Josh) Kessler, Gage Cobb, Donovan Cobb, Echoe Abner, Elsie Abner, Justin and Adam Pietz, Alexis Abner, and one expected grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donnie Erwin. The funeral service for Carolyn Abner will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. The family has requested that memorials be made to First Christian Church or Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted at the funeral home.
