- Ruby Irene Scott Akins, 92, of Noble, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Burgin Manor in Olney.
Visitation at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Noble. Funeral services at the funeral home with Pastor Blake Chenoweth officiating. Burial in Noble Cemetery in Noble.
Mrs. Akins was born September 18, 1919, in Noble, the daughter of James E. and Millie M. (Bretton) Scott, of Kansas. She married Robert E. Akins. He preceded her in death in September of 1986.
She had worked at Olney Garment Factory and was a cook at West Richland Elementary School. She was a member of Noble Christian Church.
Mrs. Akins is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sarah (Campbell) Akins, of Lenoir, N.C.; grandchildren, Scott Akins and wife, Ashley, of Hudson, N.C., Todd Akins and wife, Jill, of Charlotte, N.C., Cheryl Watts and husband, Brian, of Lenoir, N.C., and Cynthia Akins, of Lenoir, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah Akins, Stella Akins, Liam Akins, Ross Watts, Raegan Watts, Logan Arnold and Leslie Arnold; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Millie Scott; husband, Robert Akins; son, Jerry Wayne Akins; an infant son, Robert Eugene Akins Jr.; two brothers; and one sister.
