- Timothy Lee Andrews, 50, of Newton, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Mark Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton. Crain Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
Tim was born September 11, 1960, in Effingham, the son of Donald A. and Susie J. (Marshall) Andrews.
After high school, he worked for the Jasper County Sheriff's Department as a jailer and dispatcher. Seeking a degree in counseling, he returned to school at Lincoln Trail College, where he was voted Homecoming King in 1990. He went on to finish his bachelor's degree at Eastern Illinois University. On May 6, 1995, Tim married Vaneta R. Lane, of Mt. Carmel. She survives. Tim was a counselor for many years as well as a substitute teacher. His memberships include Scott Avenue Christian Church, where he served, as elder, "Just Say No" Drug Prevention Program, Newton Lion's Club and Jasper County Sheriff's Department Bowling Team.
Tim will be loved and remembered by his wife, Vaneta Andrews, of Newton; son, Logan Andrews, at home; parents, Don and Susie Andrews, of Newton; brother, Mike (Shelly) Andrews, of Newton; nephew Billy (Carrie) Andrews, of Watson; niece, Deanna Shafer, of Newton; and father and mother-in-law, Bob and Nancy Lane, of Newton.
Memorials in honor of Tim may be made to the Logan Andrews College Fund.
