- James S. "Buck" Evans, 75, of Effingham, died at 10:55 am., Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at his home.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson funeral Home in Effingham, with burial and military rites at Oakridge Cemetery Effingham. Memorial may be made to Lincoln land Hospice.
Mr. Evans was born July 19, 1928, in Sullivan, Ind., the son of Robert B. and Sarah Esther(Berry) Evans.
He was a retired carpenter. He was a World War II veteran with the 21st Infantry of the U.S. Army and was a life member of the DAV, American Legion Post 102, and VFW Post 1769, all of Effingham.
Survivors include friends, Brian and Brenda Brummer of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John R. Evans.
