- Charles Henry Deimel, 82, of Olney, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Charlie was born on April 18, 1931, the son of William and Pauline (Thomann) Deimel.
He married Patricia Darlene Jones on June 18, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2008.
He honorably served as a United States Marine for three years and attained the rank of Sergeant with top secret clearance prior to returning to Olney in 1954.
Prior to owning and operating Deimel Trucking Inc. for 22 years with his wife, he operated a fleet of trucks of his own for over 20 years. He was a 50 year member of the Midwest Truckers Association & received the Outstanding Member award in 1996. He was a special individual who had a zest for life, loved telling great stories, had a love for people & never met a stranger. He loved spending time at the lakes boating, following his son to various local dirt tracks, and traveling with his family.
Later in life, he enjoyed attending the many events that his grandchildren participated in.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, Petroleum Club, American Legion, VFW, Elks & Knights of Columbus as a 3rd Degree member.
He is survived by his son, Cliff Deimel and wife Nancy of Olney; daughter, Deb Hatten and husband Frank of Olney; daughter, Cathy McDowell and husband John of Olney; son, Bill Deimel of Olney; daughter, Linda Brown and husband Arron of Olney; son, John Deimel and wife, Michelle of Olney; grandchildren, Justin (Ashlee) Hatten, Jenna (Jason) Deadmond, Kristi (Neely) Nelson, Carrie (Jeremy) French, Darrell (Andrea) McDowell, Charlie McDowell, Willy Deimel and girlfriend Jennifer Shryock, Zachary Deimel, Michael Deimel, Danny Deimel, and Derek Deimel; great grandchildren, Alexander Deadmond, Isaac Deadmond, Lauren French, Maddex McDowell, Masen Hatten, Jacob Nelson, Matthew Nelson, and Lucas Nelson; stepmother, Lucy Deimel; half-brother, Tom Deimel; and half-sister, Betty Deimel.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
