- Mrs. Laura Lee Britton, 71, of rural Cobden, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Laura's wishes were to be remembered privately and cremated for later burial with her husband. Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Britton was born August 14, 1938, in Muskegon, Mich., the daughter of Lyman and Yvonne Bates Dial. She married Larry W. Britton on NOvember 2, 1984 in Alexander County.
She earned her RN at Cook County School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. She was retired from a lengthy career in psychiatric nursing from Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center. She was very well liked by everyone who knew her. She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor.
Mrs. Britton is survived by her husband, Larry W. Britton of rural Cobden; her children, Kurt (Cindy) Pfau of Anna, Eric Pfau and friend, Patty of Anna, Jean Anne Pfau of Cheshire, Ore.; step-children, Andy (Brenda) Britton of Olney; Beth (David) Hopkins of O'Fallon and Phil (Linda) Britton of O'Fallon; grandchildren, Mark, Eric, Laura Rose, and Brandon Pfau; Claude, Jordan and Alex Write, Maeve Write; Charles, Phillip and Nathan Britton; Gus Kirchoff; Johanna and Sam Hopkins; blake and Anne Britton; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Dial of Twin Lake, Mich. and Stella Dial (David Snelling) of Muskegon, Mich.; step-mother, Capitola Dial of Muskegon, Mich.; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Yvonne Bates Dial; and a sister, Anna Marie "Dixie" Cranston.
