    • Roy Vernon McVaigh Jr., 85, of Parkersburg, died at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

      Funeral services held at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Pastor Mike Baker officiating. Burial with full military rites in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

      Mr. McVaigh was born May 1, 1928, in Calhoun, the son of Roy Vernon and Grace (Newberry) McVaigh. He married Patricia A. McVaigh on September 12, 1956, in Corinth, Miss. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2002.

      Roy "Junior" McVaigh held many memberships, including being a member of the Masonic Lodge, charter member of Parkersburg Ruritan Club, past commander and more than 60 years of membership to American Legion Post 30 in Olney, member of Olney Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, and 40&8. Junior served in the U.S. Army for two years and was a Korean War veteran. Junior was a retired Rural U.S. Postal Carrier after 35 years. He was a member of United Methodist in Parkersburg.

      Mr. McVaigh is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Berry, of Parkersburg; daughter, Kimberly Paddock and husband Kevin, of Olney; daughter, Linda Griffin, of Parkersburg; son, Daniel McVaigh and wife Rebecca, of West Salem; son, Douglas McVaigh and wife Holly, of Burlington, Ky.; son, Derrick McVaigh and wife Kathie, of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Roxanne Marshall, of Selma, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Ellen Gustin; sister, Betty Lee McVaigh; sister, Leona Mae Kline; brother, Donald Rex McVaigh; and several nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Eugene "Dutch" McVaigh, Larry "Bud" McVaigh and Robert "Bob" McVaigh.
